The Syrian government has a duty to “annihilate terrorists” in the country’s territory protecting the Syrian people in this way.
"The responsibility of the Syrian government is to protect all of our residents. You have a responsibility to annihilate terrorists in any corner of the country. When you eliminate a terrorist, it's possible that you are saving the lives of tens, hundreds, or even thousands," the Syrian president has said.
He has added only the Syrian people can find the ways of resolving the situation in their country.
“We can not accept non-Syrian solutions to the conflict, since only the Syrians know how it can be solved. The real issue is maintaining national unity in the country. We need to overcome the internal differences and disagreements. Foreign pressure will have no influence on our stance. We have been under pressure for a long time, and it did not have an affect in the past, and it will not have any influence in the future," Assad has said.
Assad also touched upon Turkey, saying there is a difference between policies Ankara endorse and view of Turkish people towards Syria. Assad said the view of the Turkish people is positive while the policies of the Turkish officials lead to the killing and bloodshed of the Syrian people.
