Salvador Dali’s painting was stolen from Venus Over Manhattan gallery in New York on June 19, ArmenPress informs The New York Times reported citing the announcement of the police.
A thin man entered the gallery house as a customer and asked the warden to take a photo of him. When the warden’s attention was distracted, the criminal brought the painting down the wall, hid it in a black bag, entered the elevator and calmly came out to the street. The surveillance cameras have fixed the thief.
Dali painted the stolen painting called Cartel des Don Juan Tenorio in 1949.
Venus Over Manhattan gallery was opened in 2012. Billionaire and communications mogul Adam Lindemann is the gallery’s owner. The stolen painting was included in the first exhibits on display in the gallery.
