Romania's former prime minister Adrian Nastase, who was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment on June 20 has attempted suicide, ArmenPress informs citing Itar Tass it was stated about this in the release of the country’s prosecutor’s office.
The doctors of the hospital where the former PM was taken, said he shot in his throat when the police came to take him to prison.
The incident took place one day before Nastase would turn 62. Nastase held the post of Romania’s PM in 2000-2004.
On June 21, Romania’s High Court of Cassation confirmed Nastase would have to serve two years in jail for corruption.
