American tightrope walker Nik Wallenda became the first person over the past century to walk across Niagara Falls on a high wire, thus crossing the border between Canada and America.
The wire was 5cm wide and it constantly swung because it didn’t have a stabilizer. More than 100,000 tourists followed the event.
It took Wallenda only 25 minutes to complete the tightrope walk on the 550m long wire. The Canadian and American authorities had prohibited tightrope walkers to walk across Niagara Falls over the past 100 years. Earlier, in 1859 French tightrope walker Jean Francois Gravelet walked across the fall for several times.
