Armenia is the first in the region with the number of internet users, tariffs, accessibility, popularity and infrastructures, RA PM Tigran Sargsyan informed about this during Digitec business forum On June 15 in Yerevan. The prime minister recalled that Armenia was behind its neighbouring countries with these indicators 5 years ago.
According to the prime minister, the representatives of IT sphere set one and very important issue before the government- to ensure personnel.
“We badly need in graduate specialists, with the annual labor market demand exceeding the output by 20-30%. We assured industry representatives that training will be a priority and that the number of State-ordered places will be dramatically increased in the universities, which calls for additional money injections,” the Prime Minister said.
The issue of establishing a new ministry coordinating the sphere of newest technology is yet to be discussed with the specialists of the sphere.
“We’ll discuss the issue of establishing a ministry in the future with our partners. The opinions differ: there are people who are for it and against. In general, perhaps we should rather not think of establishing new ministries but of optimization of the existing ones, and from that point of view we’ll discuss the proposal of our partners with a view on the future,” Tigran Sargysna said.
This two-day forum seeks to promote innovational approaches and to present all the products and services in the IT sector. This year Digitec is attended by 59 organizations (48% increase), including 21 foreign companies.
