The Assembly of Refugees from Azerbaijan intends to establish a new city in liberated Kovsakan for the refugees. The city will be called Bagaran and will be foreseen for a population of 100, 000, the representative of the assembly’s chairmanship Mariam Avagyan told journalists today.
According to her, the funds necessary for the construction of the city will be provided by Armenian businessmen and entrepreneurs, who are refugees from Azerbaijan and who promote successful activity both in Armenia and in the whole world.
“In all cases, the rights of the Armenian refugees are again violated and neglected in Minsk Group. We propose that the Armenian refugees should have the opportunity to exercise their rights and construct a city in the liberated territory. We are taking steps and are seeking agreements for the construction of the city. We hope our city will be more beautiful than Baku and that we’ll be able to re-establish Baku’s Armenian community in that city. We also hope it will be a free trade zone and what is most important, a symbol of peace in the region, a factor keeping and affirming peace,” said Mariam Avagyan.
