Today, Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan Hulusi Kilich answered the statement made by Armenian FM Edward Nalbandyan a few days ago. Edward Nalbandyan had said the statement of his Turkish counterpart “sounded racist”.
“It was inappropriate to compare Armenia with Azerbaijan. Before comparing with Azerbaijan let Armenia come out of the occupied territories, let it withdraw to the internationally recognized borders and only then make such statements. Azerbaijan’s territories are occupied and the fight for returning them will continue. Turkey doesn’t wish that the parties sustain losses, neither Azerbaijan, nor Armenia. We always speak for regional peace,” the ambassador has said.
To recall, during the news conference with OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Ireland’s Deputy PM and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Eamon Gilmore recently,, Edward Nalbandyan took the opportunity to voice the opinion of official Yerevan on the Armenian-Turkish relations. The minister expressed his anger and said the statement of the Turkish FM sounds racist, as Turkey expressed condolences only to Azerbaijan for the victims in the border incidents.
