A little while ago the discussion on the Armenian Genocide ended in the Israeli Knesset with the participation of government members. The discussion lasted quite long.
Representatives of Armenian organisations also participated in the session.
Coordinator of ARF-D Hay Dat Jerusalem Office Hakob Sevan informed Yerkir Media that it was decided in the parliament’s plenary session to continue the discussion of the Armenian Genocide recognition issue in Knesset Committee on Education.
The members of all the 8 parliamentary factions delivered speeches and even the government representative, minister delivered a speech who said the government is not against continuing discussing the Armenian Genocide recognition issue and that Israel must recognize the Armenian Genocide.
The parliament has decided to assign the Committee on Education with the task of submitting a resolution proposal to the parliament for the discussion of the issue. Thus, it is expected that the December 2011 discussions will resume in the committee.
