Turkish President Abdullah Gul has stated in an interview to CNN that the French newly elected president Francois Hollande is more reasonable than Nikolas Sarkozy was.
Asked if now that President Sarkozy is gone and President Hollande is there, it gives hope of a positive influence on the EU membership process, Gul said, "I think so. President Hollande is more reasonable. I hope the things will move smoothly."
Tert.am writes that touching upon Turkey’s EU membership he has said negotiations continue and they expect a more understanding approach from their European colleagues.
“The economic outlook in many countries in Europe is not good. We have a sound economy. Our cooperation will be helpful," Gul has said.
