Russian PM Dmitry Medvedev was elected chairman of United Russia Party during the party’s 13th congress.
Medvedev submitted his application of membership to the party on May 21, 2012. Already on the next day he was handed the party’s membership card. Before Medvedev, the present Russian president Vladimir Putin held this post.
Constitutional changes are also on the agenda of the congress which is in process. Boris Gryzlov retained the post of the Supreme Council chairman. The secretariat’s members were also elected.
