The traditional festivals organized in Armenia will be added by one more holiday: the holiday of tonir (a big jar dug in the earth in which fire is made, used for baking bread-Armenian lavash) comes to add dolma, barbecue and wine festivals. It will be celebrated on August 11 in Tsaghkunk community, Sevan. According to one of the orgnisers of the festivals Sedrak Mamulyan, the cuisine must be included in tourism offers. According to him, tourists forget the taste of the country’s dishes latest.
Many of the names of the Armenian dishes enumerated by the cook are not known even in Armenia, but Sedrak Mamulyan thinks that both the population of our country and the tourists must be familiarized with them through festivals.
The director general of “Romea” tour club also thinks that tourists must first get acquainted with our menu, different trips must be organized during which the tourists must be offered an interesting national dish.
“During walking trips the food is usually very simple. It may be in form of a lunch-box or of a picnic. The dishes enumerated by Mr. Mamulyan must be tasted in corresponding places and in a corresponding atmosphere,” the director general of “Romea” tour club Ruben Grigoryan says.
"Development and Preservation of Armenian Culinary Traditions" NGO chairman Sedrak Mamulyan says: “Our nature is very rich. Many nations would dream to have our nature and our climatic conditions. The products that grow in Armenia are varied, ecologically clean and very useful. Not to mention the large list of edible herbs. The preparing methods are complex. Therefore, those dishes are known to us, which simply don’t require thought and much work”.
