I first learnt from our correspondent in Turkey that Yerkir Media TV company is blamed for burning a club. Our correspondent was told about this by his journalist-coworkers. The alarm reached there earlier than people started to speak about it in Armenia. It is two-three days that a strange topic has been touched upon in the Armenian blogs, talks and even in TV programmes. I would never imagine that such a lively discussion could be held in our public. Moreover, everywhere the name of our TV company is heard, that allegedly “Yerkir Media has induced young people to violence. The mistress of the club, who is also a head of a rock group, travels to different countries to participate in so-called “gay-parades”, has announced in a news conference that Yerkir Media TV company has asked her to give an interview on the occasion of her participation in a gay-parade in Turkey and has distorted the interview and made her “an absolute enemy”.
Each year gay-parades are held in different parts of the world, and the parades are authorized. Such a gay-parade was recently held in Istanbul. The number of the participants exceeded 7000. The gay-parade in Istanbul differed with that there were 4 Armenians among the participants. They represented PINCET rock group. The topic “Armenians in a gay-parade in Istanbul” became a topic of discussion in the information sites viewing the meetings and the public meetings in the context of Armenian-Turkish relations. Tsomak, the head of PINCET rock group is sure that they don’t succeed to open the closed door on the state level, but the people can do more. Besides, the Armenian group headed by Tsomak has also complained that holding such an event in Armenia is a far dream. Journalist Arpi Beglaryan cannot speak about the conduct of the Armenian rock group in Istanbul without anger. “After all, freedom is not by letting gays to the streets,” the journalist of 7or.am website Arpi Beglaryan said.
We stand our word. I stand every word of our journalist Anna Mkrtchyan. And we are ready to repeat it every day. Perhaps there would be no need to address the topic but for an alarm. The aggressive behaviour of the sexual minority that was noted in the square. Everything has reached to the point that they can calmly threaten from the TV screen that there was a strong force, even high-ranking force behind them. No comment. But one fact is worth noting: the topic of minorities is currently largely discussed in the US, too, during the election campaign, where no one calls one of the main candidates Mitt Romney, who is radically against that phenomenon, a fascist, nationalist. They speak openly there while discussing the issue. This topic is discussed in many countries. And it is interesting that everywhere the church says its weighty word. In our country, the Armenian Apostolic Church said nothing in the debate which has already continued for days. The ruling party, which preaches Armenian conservatism, keeping traditions is also silent. And in this silence once again people found an addressee. Perhaps it is rightly said who is the last hope of the Armenians, therefore the aggressive minority mentions another addressee. And at the end, coming back to Yerkir Media TV company, I repeat we stand our each word. And we could sue the authors of such statements for slander. But any Armenian woman is dear to us irrespective of her orientation.
