Deputy head of the department of crimes against a person of the prosecutor general’s office Artur Davtyan told journalists today that 58 reports on election violations were received before the election day as well as today, which are under discussion.
“25 of them were revealed based on publications in the press,” Artur Davtyan has said.
There were 23 reports that the voters’ right of free expression of their will was violated: here Artur Davtyan also noted the election bribe cases. 18 of them were revealed through the media monitoring group. 19 reports referred to attempts to hinder the campaign of a candidate. In three cases decisions were taken to reject initiation of a criminal case.
The representative of the prosecutor’s office also drew comparisons with the previous elections.
“There is an increase in the number of the reports. In the previous years 1-2 reports were received. This proves the efficiency of our work. To note, journalists and monitoring groups are the alarm makers. We must state with happiness that this year there were no cases of burning headquarters unlike the previous years,” Artur Davtyan said.
