According to the time schedule defined by the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), the electronic voting of the Armenian parliamentary elections started today.
An electronic vote is held for the first time in Armenia after a change in the Electoral Code. For now only those who are in diplomatic service and their families will vote electronically. The coworkers of the foreign branches of Armenia’s legal entities and their family members, who are Armenian citizens can also participate in the electronic voting.
In general, 283 voters participate in the electronic voting. CEC has already submitted the sealed envelopes to the foreign ministry representative, in which, according to CEC chairman Tigran Mukuchyan, there is a corresponding code with 6 figures, with a hiding layer on it and a guideline how to vote electronically and on the dates of the voting. The foreign ministry has handed the envelopes to Armenian citizens living abroad who are working in diplomatic representations and consulates and to their family members who permanently live with them.
According to the Electoral Code, the vote starts 9 days before the election day and ends 5 days before it, which means the electronic voting of the May 6 elections will end on May 1.
