An American brain dead woman has given birth to twins. The doctors have kept her on a respirator for a whole month to allow her for the development of the babies who were born prematurely on April 5.
Nicholas and Alexander Bolden weighed less than 2 pounds when they were born by cesarean section on April 5, and remain on ventilators at Helen DeVos Children's Hospital in Grand Rapids in Michigan.
News.am informs making a reference to vesti.ru, that the mother of the boys, Christine Bolden, 26, was already brain dead from aneurysms since March 1. Nevertheless, the doctors decided to take a risky step and to help the babies to come to earth at the request of Christine’s relatives.
The doctors fear that Nikolas and Alexander may have a number of dangerous illnesses in future. There is great possibility they can fall behind babies born in time with their development.
This case is considered one of the most exceptional cases in the world medicine. According to the data published by German scientists in 2010, 30 such operations were carried out in the world since 1982.
