By the decree of Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan, Gayane Gasparyan was appointed a temporary acting rector of “Yerevan State Linguistic University after V. Bryusov” SNCO till the election and appointment of rector according to established procedure.
Today RA Deputy Minister of Education and Science Manuk Mkrtchyan and Head of Staff of RA Ministry of Education and Science Mher Ghazaryan presented the acting rector Gayane Gasparyan to the professors’ staff of the Yerevan State Linguistic University.
To recall, after Zolyan was dismissed from post, by the minister’s decree, firstly the university’s prorector Gabriel Balayan was appointed an acting rector. But he refused to take the post underscoring that for him Suren Zolyan was still the university’s rector.
The university’s former rector Suren Zolyan defined the appointment of the new acting rector and presenting her as “a real show”. He has said that mainly those people were present at Gayane Gasparyan’s presentation, who were offended from him or who felt not comfortable because of being not realized as specialists.
He also informed that the issue of his dismissal is now submitted to the CE secretary general’s consideration, and the leadership of Armenia has asked for time to settle the problem.
To note, the situation again got tense at the university today, the students gathered and moved towards the government demanding Zolyan’s return.
