On April 19, RPA Executive Body held a session headed by RPA Leader Serzh Sargsyan. RPA press spokesperson Edward Sharmazanov has told ArmenPress that issues pertinent to the election campaign were discussed at the session.
“It was decided to adopt the rules ensuring civilized competition during the elections. RPA has already published them. All the election headquarters were assigned with the task to be guided with those rules and the partner political forces participating in the elections were urged to adopt the rules, too,” Sharmazanov said.
The party leader Serzh Sargsyan has attached importance to the necessity to hold the campaign in an atmosphere of tolerance and democracy.
On April 5, RPA Executive Body member Davit Harutyunyan has circulated a statement saying that the participating parties must first of all define rules ensuring the civilized competition in holding the elections properly. The rules are assumed voluntarily and their observance will lead to a change of political atmosphere and their unconditional usage will enable to reach a situation when the participants will congratulate each other on the election results irrespective of the number of votes they get.
